I changed the log in and strarted again, selected the "TWAIN plug-in option" and, after accepting the licence agreement, left the "SCSI Drivers (ASPI)" box unchecked. I then re-inserted the disk but the installation failed to complete as I had forgotten to log in as administrator. First I looked in "Control Panel" and "All Programs" to see if there was anything to uninstall, but found nothing. Whenever I logged on to my computer I got a dialog "Silverfast is not found in the system please check that it has been installed correctly." I re-read your readme and researched the website and have tried to re-install. My initial experiments with the 7600iSE were at least as good as the 4200F, although I do not believe I installed Silverfast correctly. Unlike the 4200F, I intend to connect the 7600i only when I need to use it. I had fairly good results scanning slides on the 4200F, but the procedure was slow and fiddly, so I bought the 7600i. I do not know if I have SCSI - the only reference on Belarc Adviser is "Sony SCSI Helper service 1.0" I have a Canon 4200F scanner (bundled with the excellent Arcsoft 5.5, which I have used extensively) attached permanently to a USB socket. I normally log in to XP as a "limited user" for security reasons.
